Poseidon Mk6 Discovery Recreational Rebreather Course (RCCR)

Why dive with a rebreather?

Just imagine you are on your last dive on vacation and all of a sudden you see a huge school of Horse-Eyed-Jacks. You try and get closer but every time you approach them, they just swim away each time you exhale. Well, with a rebreather, there are no bubbles, allowing you to swim face to face and even become part of the school. Plus, the air you are breathing is warm and moist so it is super comfortable and with 199 minutes no decompression time, you can swim with those fish all day long!

How does it work?

A rebreather takes exhaled gas, removes Carbon Dioxide (CO2) with a scrubber, it then injects small amounts of Oxygen into the system using electronics, replacing metabolized Oxygen, ultimately giving the diver the best mix possible during any portion of the dive. Once switched on and self tested the Mk6 offers 199 minutes of no stop dive time.

Using recycled gas means no bubbles!! The fish are usually disturbed by bubbles so now you can sit in a shoal of fish and they just swim right next to you, which for any diver is an awe-inspiring experience. It is also a fantastic tool for Underwater photographers to get closer to their subject.

So far Chris has dived the Mk6 for just over 150 hours and the unit has been extremely safe, fun and very enjoyable to use. As a rebreather instructor with the International Association of Nitrox and Technical Divers (IANTD), Chris is one of the first Instructors to teach the Mk6. Soon, PADI intend to release a Poseidon Mk6 / MkVI CIS Lunar Discovery Rebreather Speciality course, that Octopus Diving Tec will also be offering when it is released.

How can you experience the Mk6?

1) Take a Rebreather Try Dive with Chris, who will teach you one on one how to use the Rebreather, starting with some simple dive theory, a walk through of how the unit functions, followed by two dives.

2) Complete the full IANTD MK6 CCR course which is explained in detail below:

All equipment is supplied, including the use of a MK6 Rebreather.
We can sell you a Poseidon MK6 Rebreather which is tax free in St.Martin / St. Maarten, have it delivered to the Island and assemble it for you. We can also supply all wings, harnesses and assist with assembly.

In addition to the course, if you are not already Nitrox certified we will certify you as a PADI enriched air diver for FREE – a saving of $199.
